First Campaign Challenge

First Campaigner Challenge:

Write a short story/flash fiction story in 200 words or less, excluding the title. It can be in any format, including a poem. Begin the story with the words, "The door swung open" These four words will be included in the word count.

If you want to give yourself an added challenge (optional), use the same beginning words and end with the words: "the door swung shut." (also included in the word count)

For those who want an even greater challenge, make your story 200 words EXACTLY!

So I managed the beginning and the 200 words exactly, but couldn't get in the ending line. Ah well!

The door swung open. Ethan waited, watching the fading light splinter through the branches. He listened to the soft clank of the chains that hung from Matt's belt. Anticipation raised goosebumps along his arms.

The mist dispersed and coalesced as a figure broke through the gray. At the sight of Ethan, Matt's brow twitched upward, the faintest suggestion of confusion.

Ethan's fingers traced the line of a pinstripe before finding and loosening his first shirt button. Matt's eyes narrowed, the gears in his head churning... before his mouth curled into a smile.

Ethan unfastened the rest of the buttons and pushed the fabric aside, his eyes meeting Matt's in wordless invitation. He pressed his palms against his sides, smoothing downward, nails biting into his thighs. Matt's lips twisted into a smirk, his amusement replaced with something darker, more primitive. Ethan moaned softly, and suddenly, the man was pressed against him, the studs on Matt's belt digging into the thin skin at his hips. Slender fingers wrapped with little gentleness around his hair.

Ethan saw the triumph in his eyes, the thought clearly emblazoned there: 'You are mine.'

Ethan looked forward to teaching him exactly which of them had been claimed.

  1. This was so very sensual, you've really captured that first intimate meeting well. And the last line is totally a keeper.
